Sky Dive City

One of the few things we have to offer in Zephyrhills is an active Sky Diving community. We have a regional airport complete with a “drop zone” and there are several times throughout the year when the skies are full of divers. Today, while out on deliveries in that area, I happened to notice a mess of them in the sky:

In addition to sky diving, we get a lot of gliders in our skies. Here’s one I happened to see en route to the shop yesterday after a delivery run:

Welcome

I have been capturing moments since before I was a teen. My very first camera was a Kodak Instamatic 110mm that I proudly purchased for a mere 25 cents at a yard sale back in the early 1980s (or late 1970s). That camera gave me so many memories for many, many years. I eventually upgraded to a Polaroid Instant, and then the 35mm (my camera of choice was the Canon Sure Shot).

I went through a couple different film cameras before switching to digital a few years ago. I have used an Aiptex (not the greatest) and a Kodak EasyShare 12megapix w/ 5x optical zoom. I now use an Olympus E-620 as my primary camera and recently purchased an inexpensive point-and-shoot Canon PowerShot A490. While I am new to DSLR, I find that photography is a lifelong learning experience. I don't yet have any of the fancier lenses or a tripod, so I try to capture the best possible image with what I do have.

My philosophy is to capture the moment. It doesn't matter what the subject is, so long as it draws my eye. I have been known to capture images of spiders crawling up a wall or on a vehicle. My grandmother really encouraged my shutterbug. I always have a camera with me.

My work consists primarily of personal events and travels in my life. I have done wedding photography on a couple of occasions and birthday parties on several. I have also captured baby showers, family gatherings, and other events. Some of my favorite subjects are my adorable niece, animals, mountains, water, flowers and barns.
